New to this forum....ive been reading around but not getting quite enough of a clear answer that i am looking for.

My grand am has "knocking" type noise in the front right wheel well area.Im not very car savey but i have been told by a few people what may be wrong.One said it had something to do with a sttrut and strut mount.One other said it might be a bearing.Im not sure and im guessing you folks no alot better.

The car does a revving type sound when its idle, and slows down over a short period of time (5 to 10 seconds).In gear it makes the knocking/griding sound not very loud but enough to be annoying if you get what i mean.Obvisouly something is wrong but i would like to know for sure before i go out and spend money, and later find out that it didnt fix the problem.
