My wife was driving down the road the other day and suddenly a puff of smoke came out of the steering column after turning on the turn signal. We have had a problem with the turn signal for a while. The "clicker" that normally clicks when the turn signal is on, started going bannanas. It would click at varying speeds real fast. This started about 6 months ago and went on for maybe 2 months, then it stopped. Well it came back, but this time, with the smoke. She started it yesterday and a puff of smoke came out just from starting it. We are trying to get it into the dealer, but I was wondering if anyone has had problems like this.

We have already went through the infamous security light module replacement. Once we fix this, I think we will trade it for a non Pontiac vehicle. By the way, it is an 03 Grand Am GT with 50K miles. Thanks for the help.

Well, it was the turn signal module shorting out. I think the dealer might have smashed a wire or something the last time they had it because this started about two weeks after they worked on the ignition module.
