Default Faulty window operation

Hello all:

~I've got a driver's side window that operates intermittently. Sometimes the switch works and window is able to go up or down, and other times the switch acts like it is dead. When not working, the switch doesn't even activate the motor - i.e. no humming (like a stuck motor...) Both passenger window switches work. Just the driver's window switch is bad. Could this be the switch panel? a loose fuse? wire? Car details: 2001 Grand Am GT 6cyl. Thanks for any advice-
