Hi all, Im new to this forum. I need info on how the drivers window switch works. I need to get the drivers window up for now till i can get a new switch. The wife smelled smoke and the window wont go up. The switch feels funny and will go down. But not up. That is the part of the switch that doesnt feel right.  The other side works just fine.(2 door) Does the switch send voltage direct to the motor or is there a relay involved. I have all the wires figured out on what does which funtion but not the drivers window up wire. Would anyone know what color to jump to run the window up temporarallly till i can purchase a switch? Thanks in advance.

The difference in polarity of voltage applied to the motor is what causes the motor to change direction and thus the up and down movement. The motor is probably fine. You will need a wiring schematic to fully understand what wires feed current  to the motor for the two directions. I hate  to guess. That's what lets out the smoke of a known good part. Get a schematic and revisit the forum. What year, make, and model is the car?
