The first Pontiac I actually drove was my mother's 59 Bonny hardtop - coral w/white top. Had a 389 w/single exhaust, it sounded like an airplane talking about - one day at a traffic light I put my foot on the brake and started mashing the gas pedal. Apparently, I broke the motor mounts, causing the motor to cock slightly. This resulted in the gas pedal going all the way to the floor and it wouldn't let up until the auto tranny shifted out of first. I didn't tell my mother about this, and the next day she drove the car and it did it to her. The first Pontiac I owned was a 60 Bonny hardtop, solid white - same engine, but w/dual exhaust - this car would run rings around the 59 - I'll never forget dating in this car - the front seat was wide and deep enough to lay down in the front seat with my favorite babe and look straight up and see the stars at night. Pontiacs in those days really seemed farther up the food chain than Chevies to me - these days, I really can't tell that much difference.
