I have a 99 Grand Prix 3.8 (non SC). Recently I've noticed a leak in my muffler. I have the single exhaust system with the two mufflers. The first muffler from the closest to the catalytic is the one with the leak. I noticed some online auto parts stores that sell that muffler but just the muffler itself. My exhaust from the cat back is one piece. Is there a way to just install the muffler without having to buy a whole cat back system? If I have to where could I buy the whole cat back system?

Typically, a muffler is a stainless steel casing that contains an array of baffles that effectively reduce the volume of exhaust noise.I guess it is very much important to replace your leaking muffler... my friend told me that his muffler had leak and has replaced with a new mercedez benz muffler and it works right.

My advice is to go to any parts store and pick up 2 new aftermarket mufflers, this will save you money and look and sound alot better...unless youwant quiet, then it will just look better.

Stock mufflers will cost alot to replace unless you get a nice one from an auto wrecker for cheap.

I actually have a complete stock exhaust system for you car sitting in my garage right now...2 bolts to take it off the rear mani and it would be a complete replacement...unfortunately, your not here...

Slponline.com based here in TomsRiver,Nj has your cat back exhuast system for bout 600.00 or so not sure on the exact price. You can also try going to a exhuast place having them cut out the leaking exhuast muffler and running straight pipe to your remaining 2 exhuast mufflers. You can also try pfyc.com (Parts for your car) or you can even go to zzperformance.com they exhaust systems as well for the gp cuz i have the same one. i went with meinike and they did a custom exhuast on my car came out really nice. try some of them they should work for you and make ur car perfom better and sound better as well

OK guys all you need to do is take it to the exhaust shop and have them replace the leaking muffler with an new one. They have several different aftermarket kinds in stock and also one that is a direct factory replacement. This should cost you less than $100.00.
