My grandam has been running sluggish and the check engine light is on. I have replaced the spark plugs and wires and also the ignition coils. the light is still on and it still has a bad take off. the vehicle seems to burning more fuel. it has been hooked up the machine and they can seem to figure it out.

If the light is then there should be a code stored. Possibly a Converter issue.

have you reset the computer (key in ON position, push gas petal to the floor 3 times normal force don't slam it) reset it and if the light comes back on than you should be able to check it with the machine

Have the codes pulled so you can diagnose the problem. It also could be your o2 sensor if you are burning more gas it could also be a transmition problem. My car did the same thing.Does you check engine light come on when you reach a certain speed?
