So Ive had my 1996 Trans Am for about two months, and I swear, everytime I drive by sonic, I see a guy in a LS1 Trans am (im pretty sure its all stock) and he wants to race me. I knew his LS1 would beat me, but I gave it a shot anyway...and I lost. But what kind of mods would it take to get my car as fast or even faster than the LS1? I have a spending range of about $500, so no forced induction or anything like that. Im thinking either exhaust, cold air, headers. Cheap power adders. But I need some opinions on brands and stuff like that. Thanks for any suggestions.

all you really might need is a Jet chip, this is a pretty cheap add on and it can unlock a lot of horsepower.
