1978 Pontiac Trans Am 478 CID, EFI, 200 Mph "G” Machine.
Needs repair, Have parts. $6000

This T/A started life as……..
VIN: 2W87Z8N144151
Color: Gold over Deep Met Brown
1 Owner since new, Garage kept, Never driven in winter. Is rust Free!
Has All factory options. Fisher T Tops, WS6 Performance Pkg, 2.2 Turn Steering, Plush

interior, Power Everything, Tilt, Cruise Etc. Cost $11,800 in 1978. Basic T/A's were $5,700.

How it became a 200 mph G Machine w/a 5.2:1 Weight to Power Ratio.

Chassis:
-100+ hours of seam welding, gusseting and re-enforcing the front sub-frame to prevent flex

and deflection.
-Channeled and lowered body is welded around fabricated full frame. Including Interior

low-cage. This more than replaces the strength lost to the T Tops and Lowers the car 2

inches without losing ground clearance. Adding stability and lowering wind resistance.
-This car can be launched without consequence or damage.
-Rancho Springs, Heavy Adjustable Sway Bars and Links. Urethane Sway Bar Bushings.
-Bilstein Performance Shock Absorbers
-WATTS link centering and stabilizing the differential. Removing all side-to-side

deflection.
-Spring Perch on rear springs raised 1” to prevent axel wrap & improve launch.
-16”x9” Enkie Aluminum wheels to fit 255/50/16 Z rated tires.
-Body is Clearenced to fit this size tire and retain full suspension travel.
-Battery is relocated to the trunk for weight distribution.
-Fully Functional Fresh Air Shaker Hood
-Functional 200 Mph Speedometer
-Thermostatically controlled electric cooling fans.
-3 Stage Headlights. Low, Hi and Super Hi to 600 watts

Interior:
-Premium Camel Velour with ALL the options and amenities. Tilt Wheel, Cruise, Power Windows,

Door Locks, Rear Defrost, Navigation Lights, AC, Pulse Wipers and All Gauges.
-All is in Excellent Shape. No Fading, Cracking or Tears, None. The door handles and console

cover are not broken.
-The car never sat in the sun. It has been garaged kept since new.

Stealth:
-It can Out Run Anything chasing it.
-Tinted Tail Light Covers cut down overall lumens and do not reflect.
-Switches for lighting control. Brakes, Running, Parking Etc.
-Chrome is all Blacked Out to reduce reflection.


Drive Train:

-476 CID EFI Calculated 750hp and 750ft.lbs. Torque Without NOS!! at 4800 Rpm, 6500 Redline
-455 CID Pontiac Block, Magna Fluxed, Ultrasonic Cyl Thickness Tested, Line Bored, Decked to

Square and Bored 0.030 over.
-9.75 Compression Ratio, Runs on 93 or 94 Pump Gas
-Forged Crank Stroked +0.040 This brings the Pistons to Deck, Increases displacement,

compression and torque. Balanced.
-Forged TRW Flat top pistons.
-Chrome Molly TRW rings
-Stainless Manley Valves & Springs.
-Silicone Impregnated Bronze Valve Guides
-Ported, Polished and Flowed Heads
-Crower Roller Tipped 1.7 rocker arms.
-Crane Ram Air IV Grind Cam.
-GM Hi Rev Hydraulic Lifters.
-Crane True Double Roller Timing Chain
-Hi Performance TRW Push Rods.
-Holly 900 CFM Pro Jection 4 Fuel Injection.
-Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold, drilled and tapped for NOS install.
-Hi Performance TRW Oil Pump.
-Hi Performance Rod, Main and Head Bolts
-Hi Performance Recurved GM HEI Ignition with Accel Super Coil.
-Engine is Completely Balanced
-8 Quart Lunati Oil Pan with Baffles and Trap Doors for Oil Retention.
-2 Quart Pressurized Oil Reservoir to protect against Pressure loss during 1+ G Cornering

maneuvers.
-Neoprene Rear Main Seal Napa Pt # 1495168 Replaces Stock Pontiac Rope Seal.
-Block is fitted for Remote Oil Filters and Cooler Lines.


Transmission:
-GM TH 400 Built by Steve's Racing Transmissions in Stillwater NJ. His 900 Hp Model with a

Converter for a 427 L88 Corvette for proper stall and lockup speeds. It takes off like a

slingshot.
-Shift points are set to maximize performance with this engine. The car will break traction

at each shift if desired every time.
-Full Power Shift points are 5900 1st to 2nd @ 75mph and 5700 2nd to 3rd @ 135 mph. From

there it starts going fast.
-Hi Capacity Sump Aids Cooling and holds 3 extra qts trans fluid.
-Conversion from the stock TH 350 includes the proper Pontiac Cross Member, Driveshaft,

Downshift Mechanism and Solid Lakewood U Joints.
-Speedometer gears have been corrected for accuracy.
-Hi Performance Ratchet Shifter is one of the GM Options.

Differential:
-GM 2.41:1 True Positraction
-GM 3.23:1 True Positraction Is also included if you want a low ratio. Even with the 2.41

gear it has more torque than traction with 10” SCCA Slicks. With this power to weight and so

much torque a short gear is unnecessary.

Brakes:
-Front Disks are Drilled and Force Cooled with 2” Tubing to Backing Plate ducted from the

front air dam.
-Rear Drum Faces also drilled for cooling.

Damage:
-Car was run into a wall on the right front corner at about 25 mph. It needs the subframe,

windshield and sheet metal replaced. Most all parts are Included.



Parts Included:
-Second 1978 WS6 Trans/Am less engine and transmission. Otherwise complete. It is a sister

car with 15X8 WS6 Pontiac Snowflake Wheels. All sheet metal to make repairs is included. It

has been disassembled and is in dry storage.
-Fully Prepared, Seam Welded, Gusseted and Reinforced Sub Frame. Ready to Install.
-Spare 455 block & Crankshaft
-Spare 3.23:1 Posi Differential
-125 HP NOS System. Never Installed. Would put Hp at about 875. It was never necessary to

use it.

Is estimated. Last it was on the road in 93 it would bury the 200 mph spedo.

Yes it has PA tags from 93 has not been on the road since.
