Decoding a 1961 Bonneville
How do you decode a 1961 Bonneville?
What do you wont to know about it?
Powerpack, Here is a website I used to help me decode the cowl tag. The problem is I don't understand how to decode the ACC code since it is not listed like all other items on the tag. I hope this helps. 1961 Pontiac Body Plate Data
The ACC is the accessories, The C16 next to the ACC? is an option.
Yes I understand it is an accessory code, my problem is I can't find any resources to tell me what was the C16 option. Do you know where I can find it?
I did not find the C16 option. I did find about 15 others. Go to the link I posted, Rear main seal, in the General Tech, click on the link Go to 62-66 Big car, You will find some info there. Did you do a PHS on your car?
Look through at least 3 pages, You can do a search also on Decoading a body tag, In the 62-66 Big car forums. If youdont find it let me know. Good luck cuz68 |

No. I didn't even know what a PHS test was until you mentioned it and I looked it up. How important is this if I am only buying the 65 Bonneville as a fun project for me and my boys to work on?
Phs
it is a paper that will tell you where your car was built and where the car was shipped to, will let you know all the options it came with, What engine tranny and rear gear, If your bonny has not many owners, There will be a build sheet some where in your car, I will half to ask where Pontiac put them at on a bonny THE PHS, I don't think you will need one. I got my 68 GTO in 1974 it was 6 years old. On a GTO-Firebird and others, It is best to have the PHS, Because there are many clones out there. Now you and your boys get that 65 Bonny on the road, And have some fun. Good luck, your friend Randy.

Randy, thanks for all of the great information. Planning to meet with the owner tomorrow evening to do some final checks on the car and negotiate a price. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

So How do I find out if my car has a sports package or not? Many times Searching google and found a free VIN number check at https://vinpit.com service. It looks they serve it totally free of cost. Is it reliable for checking VIN/Insurance claim/sports package etc?
