Identifying engine and transmission

Hi All,

I've got a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville, and I'm not sure which engine and transmission I have. Can anybody point me in the right direction, or tell me how to decode the VIN to determine this?

The engine says "3800" on the plastic cover, for whatever that's worth.
