Track light on engine runs rough/shifts hard?

Have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am. It has always been a 'weird' car, most Grand Am owners know about the awesome security features. For about a week now when driving the Trac Off light will go on and the service engine soon light will go on, after the light is on when it shifts it kicks really hard. It acts like it wants to die at lights when it is doing this (not all the time) Sometimes when you restart the car the light is off again and it runs fine. Today was a rough one for it, when you start it it amps right up to about 4000 rpms then slowly comes down and chugs. Any suggestions?

Have you tried taking taking a place like auto zone and have them pull codes. It sound like the throttle body sensor my be going bad. The grand am I had once would rev up to about 4500 and when it started acting up I had my foot on the brake so it sounded like i was wanting to street race. But i dont think it tried to die on me.
