05 to 99 engine swap

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am se 6Cyl 3.4L (VIN "E") Engine,
Unforuthenly I have cracked #3 cylinder wall.
Well that’s $1500. to $2000.00 for a Remanufacturedlong block.
What I have found is a 2005 Pontiac Venture 6Cyl 3.4L (VIN "E") Engine,.
? Is, as a Long block only is there any reason the 05 won't work in the 99?
