crank pulley removal

hey, im new to the site. i have a 07 rally yellow cobalt but thats not why im here of course. my sister has an oldsmobile intrigue 3800. yes i know, this is a pontiac forum, but the olds forums was about useless. so i figure i come here.

now the problem, i cant remove the crank pulley. ive pried at it, got 2 different pullers and neither would work. i cant see how anything could get it off. there is no room for any puller to fit. i need help fast!!!!! this car has to be running yesterday! the car wont start and i have no spark and no fuel injector pulse, so i figure the crank sensor went out (after checking other items). i also have to replace the lower engine mount since it had exploded (hydraulic) and the engine shakes like crazy. ive never seen a mount so bad.

but yeah much help needed! im thinking of building my own puller with some thick steel and some bolts, and put two steel tabs in back of the pulley to yank it off. but i dont have time to do such a thing unless it comes down to it.

RE: crank pulley removal

if you are tight on space, you might try a puller that screws into the pulley with 2 bolts (of course you have to drill holes for the bolts in the pulley). This type of puller puts more 'pull' toward the hub and generally does better than a claw puller.

If it won't budge, sometimes you need to heat the pulley up with a torch and then pull it.
