just picked up a 2001 Grand Am, really beautiful car but now it won't crank over!!! I've replaced neutral safety switch, ignition switch(electrical portion) and still nothing. With key on i have all dash lights and fuel pump humms but no crank. i have replaced starter relay in relay box under hood and still no start power to start side of starter solenoid. any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated,,,,, Thanks

 

check your fusible links and such, also the battery cables may be bad

 

if the simple things dont work, look into a crankshaft position sensor

 

Seems funny but 3 days after i bought mine it wouldn't start, i was thinking the worst from buying a used car, u know POS [:@] but i talked with a garage owner buddy of mine and he told me about the security system locks down the fuel pump, it may turn on but it won't work, after having patience i got it to start just like that. not going to post it here but if you would like to know how i did it email me at jimmyhillbilly@hotmail.com
