Dipstick 1974 350 Pontiac Engine
I have a 350 Pontiac engine that has been rebuilt, but we have not put the dipstick tube back in. The mechanic working on the engine is having problems because he has been told the tube is in more than one part and you must remove the drain pan to properly install this tube assembly into the block. I thought they all just pressed in. Can anyone enlighten me as to the proper installation of this? Thanks,

RE: Dipstick 1974 350 Pontiac Engine
yes, it is a two piece, the bottom piece presses in from the inside of the block under the oil pan, so the pan will have to be removed, if the motor is in the car, it would be easier to take it out first
