New Engine Using Oil

I have 1 60 Pontiac andlast year Ihad a 1969 Pontiac 428 built and installed. It was installed was not driven during the Winnter. This has not been without problems as it runs hot (220) and the latest problem is that it's using oil. I changed the oil 6 weeks ago and yesterday when I checked it, it was down 3 quarts. It does not smoke and there have been no puddles. Anyone have an idea what would cause this?

I would take the car to whoever built the engine and get another rebuild it should have some sort of a guarentee on it.
