Survivor T/A

I have a1973 455 T/A . The car is a legit one owner 39,000 mile southern California vehicle .
The urethane bumper and front spoilers have beenrefinished and except for tires and minor maintenance items the car is 100% untouched and clean .
Friends and experts have varying opinions as to reconditioning this vehicle. The original lacquer paint is fine , but could use a buff . The hood decal is slightlyworn and the suspension could use slight detailing .( no painting )
A couple of restorers have actually viewed this vehicleto correctly restore their cars and were amazed at it's auheticity and the exhistence of assembly line defects some would have corrected .
I recently had the car appraised for insurance . The appraiser dubbed it a " survivor " . He stated he went back 5 years in his databases and could not find a comparable vehicle .
My question is , doI replace the hood decal , buff it and detail it or leave well enough alone ?
Overall this T/A looks like any one or two year old car that has accumulated easy miles .
I value your opinions , please support your responses with reasons for your opinion . Thanks .

RE: Survivor T/A

Firstly thats amazing to have a car like that. My recomendations (judging from the picture that you posted) is to buff it. Becouse:
-You state that the cars original lacquer is fine, but could use a buff
-generally a car in the amazing condition that you describe generally appreciates a buff.
- Another interesting idea is to use a hand towel and to wax by hand.

BUT
whatever you chose to do, do not under any cercumstances remove or replace the hood decal. The paint job is original and one more thing that adds value and appreciation to a car.

RE: Survivor T/A

It's about time someone responded to my inquiry .
Thanks for your input . The car shows very well , the worst thing on the car is the hood decal which is slightly faded and cracking .
I looked three years for an unrestored gen 2 T/A , and really wanted a stick but could not pass up this auto . Some guys who said I paid a lot of money for the car but now are calling me a genious . One in particular is frame off restoring his gen 2 T/A and has more money invested in his project , not to mention the time chasing correct parts .
Thanks again for your input and good luck with your endeavours .
