2.4 cyl Grand AM with 85K shakes above 60 mph
I have an issue with my '01 Grand AM that it shakes as if the tires are out of balance above 60 mph. Would anyone know if this is a recurrent problem with Grand AMs 2.4 liter ?
Pontiac dealer could not solve the issue after replacing both front Tie Rod ends and control arm bushings. A complete alignment and tire balance from the manufacturer did not solve this issue either. The Pontiac dealer did not feel that new struts were warranted. Another service repair shop thought it could be a transmission going. Help, JJ |
RE: 2.4 cyl Grand AM with 85K shakes above 60 mph
Does your car feel like the front wheels are slippining when u get above 60 mph kinda like the tranny slipping, if so try changing the plugs and boots, i had the same problem with my 2000 Grand Am and after i change the plugs and the boots it stopped if that still don't fix it then change out the coils above your plugs in the white caseing.

Or simply go and make sure all of your tires are balanced, had similar issue and was just an unbalanced tire.
