99 transport Dome light

The Dome Light (lights inside the cars cabin) do not switch on automatically when I open the doors. I have to switch it on manually using the switch. Any suggestions to solve the problem, please let me know.

I know some of the montanas have a over ride switch on the overhead console above the rear veiw mirror.
