montana putter

Let me give some background 99'(22'000 miles)Montana purchased used in 2001 ran great for 4 years in 05' (50,000) it had a transmission problem had it rebuilt. That seemed to open the flood gates in terms of nickel and dime stuff going wrong the latest part to be placed was the BCM(62,000). During this 2 year period my wife (it's her car) said at various times that the van ran rough, a feeling mostly in the gas peddle she discribes it as a puttering and almost as if the van is being held back. Has anyone else exprienced anything like this? --HELP!

Has it been tuned up recently? It sounds like you may have a spark plug wire breaking down. The plug wires can be pretty hard to get loose from the plugs, which can damage them internally. It's pretty easy to check. With the engine running and warm, have someone in the driver's seat hold the brake pedal down and place the trans in Reverse, then rev up the engine WHILE STILL HOLDING THE BRAKE, HARD! If the motor sputters, then you know that it's most likely a bad wire. You can use a spray bottle and spritz some water on the wires, especially near the ends, and see if the spark "leaks" out. It's a pretty simple, accurate way to test the ignition system. This test will also indicate if you have a cracked plug.
Good Luck and God Bless,
Tommy
