1965 pontiac 389 engine build

although I am not new to working on cars, I am new at engines. My story is this- I was left a 65 Catalina that has been in the family since new. it has been sitting since 1995 due to a thrown rod. I have pulled the engine and found 2 thrown rods and trashed block. I bought a used 389 short block that supposedly had low miles. I had a valve job done on the No.76 heads with the 10.5 to 1 ratio and was just going to bolt the new motor back together. I decided to go through everything instead so I know where I stand. I am going to bore the cylinder +.03 and put an 068 cam in it. My question is this.....I already bought Comp Cams lifters, push rods, and roller tip rockers(to give me adjustable valvetrain). All were bought to same dimensions of what came out yet Everything websites pull up dont match what the car originally had. Im not going for a monster, just an improvement on what I have. This is my first engine build. Am I going in the right direction?
