Cars you have owned
Have any of you ever owned a classic and got rid of it because you couldn't afford to fix it?
When I was 16, my parents bought me a 1975 Pontiac Firebird for $500. It only needed a rear quarterpanel on the drivers side because the owner ran into a mailbox trying to avoid hitting another vehicle. It had a 250 6 cyl. in it with a 2 bbl carb, 4 on the floor. My dad and I were going to drop a 350 V8 in it. We found a 350 V8 and double hump heads for $400. My dad went to pick it up and we were getting ready to be on our way to fix it up. I was getting ready to devote lots of time to rebuild the engine and dress it up with chrome valve covers, new intake, and such. We were going to put dual exhaust on it as well. We only got as far as buying the engine. My dad decided that we couldn't afford to fix it up and that it would be too much car for his 16 year old son to handle. I guess that is called kicking myself in the @$$. |

First car was a 1951 Ford Victoria, flathead V8, automatic.
1966 Dodge Charger fastback Supper Bee, 383, 4 speed, 4 bucket seats, red. 2 1969 Lincoln Continental Mark III's. Both with 460 cu. in. 4bbl. 1 Lime Green w/dark green leather interior, 1 black w/ red leather interior: http://imageshack.us/a/img141/7180/linc2.jpg 1974 Datsun 260Z 2+2 OHC straight six: http://imageshack.us/a/img546/2764/datsun1.jpg 1974 Pontiac Ventura GTO shaker, 350, 4bbl, headers into lake pipes http://imageshack.us/a/img819/4126/vent1c.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img87/289/vent3.jpg My current car and the reason for joining this Forum is a 1989 Firebird 2.8 MPFI base I picked up for scrap. The floor pans, exhaust, fuel lines, brake lines jack points and lower fenders & 1/4 panels completely rusted off. The things that previous owners did to this car would make you weep. 2 years work just to get it to pass inspection, I did all the repair, body work and paint. What I did to it might make you weep but at least it didn't make it to the junkyard! You'll love it or hate it! Thus, seeking assistance from general contractors or a sub contractor requires you to get an insurance coverage to provide protection from any perilous incident. It is crucial to do this as an insurance coverage is as important as safety throughout the whole project whether it is a small or a big undertaking.
