Default Hybrids

Full hybrid that can power its self on electricity alone and on gas VS GM hybrids that combine together to get extra 5-10 mpg. You decide!!

Default RE: Hybrids - The technology that can't (or shouldn't)

We are just not ready for Hybrids. They will cause more damage to the environment than gasoline cars.

1. Coal is still the single largest (at 49%) source of electric power in the US. It is far more damaging than gasoline.

2. The production of batteries pollutes far more than the production of gas tanks
3. The disposal of batteries is bad for the environment
4. The additional weight of the batteries in electric vehicles requires more energy to be spent propelling the vehicle

In addition to all of that, the American Tree Huggers (the ones that don't by SUVs to pull their 40' sailboats) will not buy American cars; they hate GM almost as much as they hate America.

Perhaps in 15 or 20 years, when battery technology improves and the US has more clean efficient nuclear power plants, we will be ready for hybrid cars. In the meantime, we need to start drilling in Alaska before the kooks in the middle east cut off our oil supply all together.
