Default My First One!

Whats up, This is my first Pontiac Motor build up I'll start from the top and work my way down I have a Pontiac 400/406 its got a tricked out Q-Jet and a Holly single plane manifold, a set of #62 heads with stainless steel valves and Chet Herbert Solid Roller Valve spring locks and retainers and full Roller Rockers, also a Chet Herbert Solid Roller Camshaft dur @050 248/251 Valve Lift .576/.592 Lobe CNTR 108 lash .026/.026 and a double roller timing chain, All ARP hardware, 12.0:1 Compression Ratio. Its going in a 79 Pontiac Firebird TransAm it has Front 90/10 drag shocks and drag launch spring, a Manual 4-speed Transmission, weld in subframe connectors, and 50/50 drag shocks in the rear with traction bars and a built 10-bolt rearend with 3.73 gears!
I dont know what kind of power it will be making I just hope it will be enough to get in the 12s in the 1/4mile.

Default my second

Thats sounds pretty nasty to me i almost got the same.. a little different. i have a 400/406 with a holley 850 and a performer rpm intake. Its got the older style 48 heads witha little port job to it with roller rockers. the camshaft isnt that big but would like to get it bigger. it has a double roller timing chain and around 10.5 for compression. I have a BW st-10 4 speed. with cheap traction bars. The rear is setup with 3.90's.
i kinda hope i go high 12's low 13's. your setup sounds cool.

Default RE: my second

Yes, boys, this is the combo to get 400+hp out of a 400 easy- a ported early D-port, 750 4-bbl, cam , headers, 2 1/2" duals. I run ported no.48's, Crane 284H w/ 1.65 roller rockers, 750 vac. sec. on a e-performer, Hooker comps, 2 1/2" duals- that with a beefed TH-350 w/2200 stall and a 3.08 posi lets me run 13.04@ 104 in street trim.

If either of you guys don't break 12's it might be the stick- my 'Bird is set up for road race (gas shocks, bis sway bars F/R, big rubber all around, etc.).
