Default Electrical Troublehooting

I have a 2001 Firebird with a 3800V6 Automatic. I am having a couple of problems that I feel may be related. First off is an intermitent back-firing above 3500 RPMs. If I'm doing 45 or 50 MPH and hit the accelerator and bring the RPMs up around 4000 RPMs, power is limited and it backfires. My first thought was bad gas so I put some fuel injection cleaner through it and changed the fuel filter. No luck.

My second problem may be related because at the same time of the back fires my radio shuts off and restarts. I thought at first this was a problem with the deck, but I noticed that when I get to my destination and shut off the car the accessories aren't working for the 10 minutes they should be. That tells me that the whole car lost power and not just the radio. Is this coil? EGR? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Stan Cooper
