Default Need help with speed sensor

Got a 2000 T/A and I must have ran over something cause my left front speed sensor wire was pulled down and ripped apart. There is enough wire left to where I can solder them back together. However when I called the Pontiac dealer they said that I could do this cause it would change the resistance of the wiring and would hence still throw a code keeping my ABS and TCS inactive. Instead they want me to by the whole front hub for 400 bucks plus another 200-300 for install. Are they just giving me BS to make money or can I just solder the wires and be fine? Thanks

They are right about soldering it, anytime you pull the wires apart the resistance will change by a very minute amount but the computer will still notice the change and will throw the code. I would suggest finding a T/A that has been wrecked that would still have a hub on it and just pulling that one and installing it, it would save you about 200-300 bucks. Installing a hub doesn't take much work and if you need help putting it back together you can always look at the one on the other side of the car for a reference.
