Default 94 GTP electrical problem?

First the basics, 1994 Grand Prix 3.4 115,000 miles. Runs and looks great. Except for this morning!! So I start it up and then the dash lights start flickering and the engine shutoff, no power. Open the hood, the light is very dim. Tap on the fuse block on the driver side wheel well and the light gets very bright and I can now start the car. I hear a couple of clicks and the dash lights flicker again and car shuts off, no power. I tap the block again with my finger and lights go bright and car starts. Now I checked the connection from the battery to the fuse block and it is tight and clean. I tap it while car is running and it has no affect. So I am thinking it may just be a coincidence that I tapped it and lights came on. Any suggestions or ideas on why electrical power would just apear to shutdown. Perhaps voltage regulator? The fuse block looks fine like I said so not sure about that.
Thanks.
