I just recently purchased a 91 grand prix w/ 62000 mi. the car is extremly clean but when you go to start it the starter makes the worst sound I have ever heard, previous owner who was the second owner said it made that noise since she owned it and she just lived w/ the noise, however she had it for about 10 years and only put 6000 mi on the car. My ? is this normal for these cars or do you guys think there is a shimming problem w/ the starter. Any info would help. Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

 

My advice hook the starter up with an ohm meter check to see if its within specs its probably seized and u should just change it u . better safe than sorry don't take the lady's word 4 it
