Default 91 Sunbird Problem

Hello,
I have a 1991 Pontiac Sunbird SLE with a 2.0 OHC TBI 5 speed that I am having technical difficulties with. There is a relay under the hood next to the power brake booster which I believe is connected to the fuel system. The problem is the relay is clicking every now and then. When it clicks it seems like it is shutting the fuel off to the car. I have replaced the relay twice and it still is clicking. I think it might have something to do with fuel sensor in the tank because the car doesn't run right when the fuel guage goes below half of a tank. I thought I'd post something here to see if anyone has any ideas because I don't want to take it to a dealer if I don't have to.
Thank you so much.
