Default transmission trouble

Ok. so I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire 2.2 auto. about a week ago i noticed that the car wouldn't shift into third gear and couldn't hit 50mph.it kept getting worse so i took it to the shop and had an oil change and a transmission flush. that made the car worse. now it doesn't even want to move, when you back up then put it into drive you're still backing up. and to top it off, it keeps stalling on my. it's really frustrating. does anyone have any suggestions? please help!

Default RE: transmission trouble

Sounds like your tranny is fried. Often times, when they start slipping the worst thing that you could do is change the fluid.Inan auto trans you have manyfiber lined (coated) clutches. As they wear the lining floats around in the fluid and can help the clutch pack to lock up as they should. When you change the fluid and put new fluid in you are throwing away that clutch lining and you wind up with steel on steel which will not allow the clutch pack to lock up and hold. So, you need to either have your tranny rebuilt or replace it with a rebuilt one oryou could get one from a salvage yard installed. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, butthat's what it sounds like to me. I use to own a transmission shop, so I do have some experience. But, you should seek help from an experienced, trustworthy mechanic in your area.
