Mechanical/Starting Problem - 2004 Grand Prix GT2
Have a serious issue w said vehicle. Often, both when car is cold and fairly warm, it fails to start and stay running. Turn key to crank engine, and dies IMMEDIATELY (within 1 second). This is not an issue w transponder in key because have tried both sets. Some days it takes 15-45 minutes in order to run so I end up being late and frustrated. This is agonizing and has been happening for two months, I almost have to lightly pump the gas which OCCASIONALLY seems to help - but this is not a carbureated car!! Problem does not occur 100% of the time. Can not decide if it is an ignition module or problem with fuel delivery. Have brought to two local dealers, one admitted noticing the problem but car had no codes in ECU or some other on board computer, so they had no idea where to begin, short of tracing ignition wires to look for a short (which they wanted to charge me up front for, when the car is covered under full warranty $0 deductible.) I told them I was going to buy an Audi S4, paint lemons on the side of Grand Prix, park it on street corner, take pictures, and post on every internet message board regarding GM/Pontiac I could find with my story! Please help me as I would like to keep this car.
I appreciate your time!

if you have a warranty its their problem to solve. call
or better yet go to the gm manager and tell them what you expect. if they don't jump on it, go up the chain of command til you get the results you paid for. i would look at the fuel system / pump / relay etc. i have that exact car and 80000 miles still great. good luck

sounds like a crank sensor, sometimes the sensors read enough so the ecm will not throw a code. but not enough for the engine to start. it doen't know what cyl it is fireing on... my son has a 04 gtp that dies when he hits a bump and starts right back. he hasn't checked out the sensor either...
