so i'm browsing my beloved pontiac wensite and well.....its boring. the line up is getting sad. performance brand? rebadged chevy more like it. here's my ideas

1 gto converable
2 g6 awd and a turbocharger
3 solstice needs a v8
4 g5 needs awd and a converable would be nice
5 vibe- ditch it
6 find a place for the holden commadore- 4 door rwd 6.0 v8.(possibly a new firebird to compete with the dodge charger 4 door)

They should build it, they could call it “Bonneville.”
And they should make sure they build it in a way that generates some excitement, i.e., they should not make the same mistake they did with the GTO. The GTO was such a good idea ruined by poor execution.

You are correct; GM cars are just not generating any excitement. This is further evidenced (besides your and my disappointment when looking at the Pontiac lineup) by looking around the net at car based discussion groups. No offense to anyone here, but there seem to be few people here that are excited about their Pontiac.. By contrast, look at some of the Chrysler and Ford forums:

http://www.lxforums.com
http://www.dodgetalk.com
http://www.chargerforums.com

http://forums.stangnet.com/
http://www.mustangboards.com/
http://www.lincolnforums.com/forums/

I haven't look around that much, but there is not the same kind of excitement at any GM forums (corvette and caddies may be an exception.. perhaps some trucks too).

Most of the people here are looking for help with a problem. At the Chrysler boards, people are excited about their cars -- on the whole, the tone of the Chrysler boards is very different from the GM boards. It is sad.

If I had to guess.. I'd say that GM seems to be managed by some 'la-di-da-di-da' liberals that want to save the world with their ?responsible? product line (e.g., electric cars like the volt). Chrysler, on the other hand, seems to be run by some 'kick a$$' conservatives that want to sell cars. GM management needs to understand that their responsibility is to their stock holders and get serious about selling some cars and generating some return on investment. And to do this, they need to produce some cars that will generate some excitement ? especially Pontiac (wasn?t that their ad campaign a while ago? Now it just sounds dumb).

I dont necessarily think that there needs to be a V8 in the solstice simply becouse it would be too bulky and too heavy, but a 300hp 4/6 cylinder with a serios turbo would be nice. ALso its our job as consumers to post things about the vehicles we love.
