Default 03' Sunfire Vs. 03' Cavalier

Ok, so my buddies both recently got their cars, one got an 03 Sunfire and the other the Cavalier. Both cars were used, and nearly bareboned stock, except the Cavalier had about 2k more miles than the Sunfire. They both decided to go racing just to see who was faster and the Cavalier had much better acceleration than the Sunfire. Does anyone know if their are any difference in engines or quite possibly weight that maybe attributed to this?

Thanks,
Steve

Yup, both are Ecotec DOHC with automatrc transmissions.
Almost everything is exactly the same between the cars besides that the cavalier has about 2000 more miles on it.

Well. It depends on the Engine code. There are two different Ecotec 2.2L engines. One has more torque than the other....
