Default Odometer issue

My 2000 Sunfire has an intermittent problem with the odometer. Occassionally, the numbers will disappear or become scrambled. A light tap on the instrument cluster bezel usually causes the trouble to stop. Also, holding the trip odometer button in returns the numbers to normal, but they scramble after the button is released. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Default RE: Odometer issue

I'm having an odometer issue as well, in my wife's 99 the trip odometer appears to be non existent as it hasen't worked since I met her, and now the odometer quit all together. GM wants $120 to diagnose the problem, and $500+ for a new cluster (+Labour)... Anyone have any experience with this issue??
