I have a '00 Sunfire GT 2.4L DOHC. I blew the original engine and replaced it with an '02 2.4L DOHC. Everything seems to be working properly except that the 'check engine' light and the 'service' light in the dash are both on steady. Recently the power steering quit working. ive checked all the lines and there wasnt any holes or kinks that i could find. I can hear a sucking noise in the rack and pinion when the wheels are turned. I'm thinking it might be the power steering pump that went. But im not to sure where it would be, or if there even is one. Might it be attached to or in the fluid resevior?

Anyone with any ideas on this problem it would be muchly aprecciated!!

 

It's really hard to drive a car when the power steering is busted! I guess it is the pump that you need to check, fix, or replaced. Or other components like the tank itself.
