Default Sunfire brake drums

Have a 2003 Sunfire. Need to replace rear brakes. Can't get drums off. They rotate freely (nor binding on brake shoes) but they act like they are welded to the axle hub. I have tried penetrating oil and moderate taps on sides of drums. Can't get any movement. Need help.

probably just rust, try putting some muscle into your hammer swings. also be sure to clean it us with a wire brush and grease it up well before mounting the new drums.

Thanks,
I have tried tapping from the back. Someone suggested hitting them on the edge from the front which might break them loose on the opposite side. Might be able to put more umph into it without the fear of cracking the edge of the drum. I will try that when it gets warmer.
