My gf is really looking to get a sunfire and i was wondering what kind of suggestions on what to look for with common issues in this particular model.

Get a GT. The sunroof and manual tranny make for a fun sporty car to drive. You should get a coupe. The coupe looks sleeker and more streamline than the sedan. Besides is lighter..So a GT coupe is the best bet. I've driven a GT coupe on the tight twisties and it handles like a dream and goes like $*!%.
