I have just bought a used2005 Pontiac Sunfire SLX and Iam having some troubles with it, specially the transmission.

When you take off or you are just driving along, it accelerates fine to about 3000 rpm, but then it keeps going to about 5500rpm toredline and stays there fora few seconds,then it will shift to a higher gear. But, if you accelerate to about 3000 rpm and let off the gas, it shifts.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

I would sugggest to check the Throttle position sensor for adjustment or replacement.

 

Its under warrenty so i took it in and apperantly the transmission is pretty much FUBAR. ty for the responce though
