99 Grand Am - ID block casting #'s for year
Hello all,
I have a 99' Grand Am SE 2.4l that has a ton of issues. The most expensive at the moment is a noisy valve/lifter. I'm planning on doing head job/timing chain sometime in the near future.
The problem is, there has been an engine swap done in the past. My GA doesn't seem to be setup for EGR, but the current engine has EGR. From other forums I've read that there was a change in the castings and ports in '99 between EGR & Non-EGR. I'm thinking I should try to ID the block for year and go with that.
Anyone know where to find those casting numbers and determine the year?
