Default '89 GTA just quits.

Our sons first car is an '89 GTA. He has had it for close to a year now. Lately it has simply died on him as he is driving. We have had it in to our local service guy who cannot find anything wrong. He doesn't abuse it and he burns premium (ouch) gas. It starts and runs fine other that the occational quiting. We do regular oil changes. This has happened 3 times in the last 4 months.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

[&:]I would have the fuel pump checked, its in the gas tank. I had a similar problem - car started fine but after a distance would not start when shut off. It could be ignition as well but that can be checked at the same time. Good luck.

If you see my post on a 92 GTP, I had, have the same problem. I changed my fuel pump and filter. When i took the filter out I could hardly blow through it. This week I will start taking it to work again. I hope it works because AAA is getting to know me by first name basis. I will let you know what happens. It was dieing everyday at different times and would restart when the wrecker got it home.

Well, we had a GM dealer look at it. They found that all 8 injectors had lower electrical resistance then thier lowest accepatable allowance (they are very, verybad). From what they tell me is that this the low resistance causes the them to try to pump more fueland makes them overheat and send a signal to the "computor to shut down. After awhile (about 45 mins. in our case) the injectors cool down and will operate again. Here is the bad news. They want $2200 to install them. The decision is up to him as to where we go from here.
